Diving
A popular Olympic aquatic sport, diving involves athletes jumping from a platform or springboard into water while performing acrobatic maneuvers. Governed by the International Swimming Federation (FINA), prestigious diving events include the FINA World Aquatics Championships and the Olympic Games.
With total domination, the Chinese diving pair of Chen Aisen and Lin Yue were in Perfect Synchrony to take the Gold in the Men's Synchronized Diving and 10m gold! USA's Diving pair of David Boudia and Steele Johnson knew that the gold was beyond their reach but needed a great dive to secure the silver, which they did! Great Britain's Thomas Daley and Daniel Goodfellow could only watch their hopes of silver slip away with the USA's final dive and score of 98.28. Great Britain, however, secured 3rd place for the Bronze medal! The Chinese pair's final score was 496.98; the United States had a 457.11 and Great Britain ended with a 444.45.
It was 2008, at the Olympics in Beijing, China when history was made! China's Zhou Luxin's lead was so far ahead of all the other divers it appeared he was a lock for the Gold Medal and impossible for anyone to catch him. BUT...Australia's, Matthew Mitcham had dreams of gold too. The cards were totally stacked against Mitcham winning gold because he would have to deliver the highest score in DIVING HISTORY to win gold! Guess what...he did it!!! Mitcham scored a 112.10 for his final dive for an overall total of 537.95 beating Luxin!
