A strength sport, powerlifting involves athletes competing in three attempts at maximal weight single lifts: squat, bench press, and deadlift. Powerlifting events include the World Powerlifting Championships and various regional and national competitions.
WOMEN IN SPORTS!!! That also goes double for powerlifting! Pound-for-pound, these women are much stronger than the average man walking the streets. Their core and leg strength are just crazy!
Brian Shaw and Eddie Hall went All Out For The Deadlift Victory! Mind you, the deadlift is the single lift that determines who the strongest person in the world is. These 2 giants battled it out all the way to 981 lbs which happens to be just 2 1/2 times less than a small car! They both made it all the way to 981 lbs and then this happened...
This clip clearly demonstrates how critical it is to have strong, experienced spotters during a weightlifting competition! During one lift, the spotter is a very small kid on one side of the weight by himself. The lifter starts, squats with the weight and gets in trouble and can't lift the weight and starts to lose it. This kid they had spotting COULD NOT catch and control the weight either. Others had to rush on stage to save them both! It appeared there was no training at all for these spotters, not to mention, these spotters were not physically capable for the job. One of these athletes could have sustained a very serious injury all because of lack of planning and experience by the meet directors!!!
These moments include failed lifts! Failed spotters too small and too weak to spot! One competitor cheating by wearing hiden knee wraps during his squat. And finally and most of all, a cheater wearing a "slingshot" under his weightlifting suit. Every time he does his lift, he very quickly exits the stage. Well...after his bench press and still hiding the slingshot he was wearing, he completed his lift and ran off the platform. A judge noticed the slingshot and confronted this cheater. But the cheater ran away and eventually ran OUT OF THE BUILDING with the judge chasing after him!!! MUST WATCH!!!
